The Swanage Railway and Corfe Castle

Some scenic impressions from the mixed steam and diesel trains on the Swanage Railway. This line has to be classed amongst the Top 10 preserved railways in the UK, the typical British scenery and enchanting landscape of the Isle of Purbeck is straight out of a BBC TV series! The obvious highlight is the amazing sight of the towering ruins of Corfe Castle, located at the namesake town, an English village with amazing charm. In early September 2011, LNER 4492 "Dominion of New Zealand" was a guest on the line, for the annual autumn gala at Swanage. On these pictures the light blue A4 is seen while waiting for a crossing with 0-6-2 tank engine 6695 at Corfe Castle. Also the diesel fleet at the Swanage Railway is of note, formidable former BR machines with unsilenced engines, lots of thrash and original blue and yellow liveries. All well worth a visit!
