By Steam from Ampflwang to Timelkam

The ÖGEG has one of the very largest collections of historic rolling stock in Austria (only rivaled by Strasshof), plus it has one of the best heritage facilities anywhere in Europe! Centerpiece of the massive Ampflwang railway yard and museum complex of course is the fantastic roundhouse, installed there in 2005/2006 and previously placed at the DB depot in Rosenheim. For sure, the infrastructure at Ampflwang is a dream blueprint for any sort of preservation group, but as if that weren´t already good enough, the complex also comes with a built-in branch line, providing an ideal "playground" for all the kettles to come out and strut there stuff. Not surprisingly, the Ampflwang - Timelkam preserved line is one of the very best locations for line siding and filming in Austria, as the stretch of track features no other regular traffic. Throughout the spring, summer and early autumn the line has an alternating steam or diesel service on weekends. In late August the rugged 4-6-2 tank engine 77.28 was in use.
