475.111 on Rare Tracks in Western Bohemia
For the weekend in mid April, the British Railway Touring Company hired the massively majestic "Mountain" 475.111 for a bash through West Bohemia. In best English fashion and to appeal to the onboard cranks, the kettle was directed over tracks that either see no more locomotive-hauled services or are not frequented by passenger trains at all. Indeed, it was the first time ever that 475.111 went on line 161 west of Blatno and did the closed-off branch to Bochov as well. As could be expected, the outing of the Iron Monument Club flagship drew a whole host of spotters and chasers, that were able to follow the locomotive´s fine performance for the day.
